ARTIST STATEMENT
The goal in my paintings and in my life for that matter is simple—to
try and reach above my self. To reach beyond my own boundaries.
In my paintings and drawings there is a fundamental reliance upon
intuition rather than intellect. The "process" of painting guides me
and it is color that inspires me to uncover new places and bring them
to light from under the layers. I am compelled to express an emotional
state of being rather than representation. I work in the moment and
like to use materials that are "at hand". Sometimes a branch, a feather
or a ball point pen work better than a brush. Paintings that seem to
emerge by chance are my best work.
