"I draw my images from within. Over the years I have stored enough of
them to last me several lifetimes.” “I believe that the practitioners
of all the arts share a similar urgency to commute their feelings. In
using a medium that is not governed by words or an exact musical scale,
I have the freedom to visualize my primitive nature. I am afforded the
luxury of putting my mental pictures on canvas without converting them
into a different medium.” “My three major influences are a painter, a
novelist and a pianist/composer. The painter, Pablo Picasso taught me
that one sweeping line has the potential to explode into a countless
number of fresh ideas. The novelist, Saul Bellow taught me that an
artist, regardless of the medium, has the potential to arouse all of
man’s senses The pianist/composer, Theloniious Monk taught me that
melodious passages can flow from hard, angular compositions.”
Over the past few years my paintings have raised thousands of dollars
For R.O.A.R Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue. My Dapper Dogs and
Classy Cats
have also raised money for The Newtown Pound, Animals for Life and
other shelters. In 1995 an auction was held at the Aldrich Museum Of
Contemporary Art in Ridgefield Connecticut and my painting titled
“Aarf”set a record price for its category. The entire amount was
donated to ROAR. !
